By the mid 1800s our ancestors were keen to travel and see the world. Most with hope for a better way of life, but let's not forget adventure, gold, a military endeavour and convict ships!

They travelled far and wide and sometimes back again. They kept up communication with family still residing in their homeland sending photos and presents to their relatives.

My own ancestors journeyed to and from Ireland; Scotland; England; Wales; Australia; New Zealand and America. Some had military backgrounds. Some lived their entire lives in the villages they were born in. Some were gentlefolk. Some had a skilled trade. And some were paupers.

All had a story to be found....
